PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Eugene R. Abel, 57, of Perryville died Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 16, 1949, in Perry County, Mo., son of Gerald and Mary Eiman Abel. He and Uputuu "Sukie" Pouafe were married April 26, 1980.

Abel worked 15 years at Gilster-Mary Lee. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church.

He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ann Zoellner and Angela Freeman of Michigan; five brothers, Larry Abel of Hillsboro, Mo., Norman, Richard, Raymond and Leonard Abel, all of Cedar Hill, Mo.; a sister, Jeanetta Lufcy of Perryville; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God Church. The Rev. John Chamness will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, Mo., with military honors provided by the Marine Corps League.

A funeral will be held Saturday, July 14th, 2007 for 57-year-old Eugene R. Abel of Perryville, who died Tuesday, July 10th at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 16th, 1949 in Perry County, the son of Gerald and Mary (Eiman) Abel, who both preceded him in death.

He married Uputuuu "Sukie" Pouafe on April 26th, 1980. She survives in Perryville.

He is also survived by two daughters: Ann Zoellner and Angela Freeman who both reside in the state of Michigan; five brothers, Larry of Hillsboro, Norman, Richard, Raymond and Leonard all of Cedar Hill, a sister, Jeanetta Lufcy of Perryville; and six grandchildren, Stephen and Joshua Costello, Tylor Kelly, Marisah, Zachary and Alyson Freeman.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Judy Schnarr and two brothers, Dennis and Gary.

He was employed at Gilster Mary Lee for 15 years.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Perryville and was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 13th and 6:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14th at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

A funeral for 57-year-old Eugene R. Abel of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14th at the First Assembly of God Church in Perryville. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland. Military graveside honors provided by the Marine Corps League. The Rev. John Chamness will officiate.
