Abernathy, Ethan Wayne

Abernathy, Ethan Wayne

Ethan Wayne Abernathy, 17, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at his home.

He was born April 16, 1997, in Cape Girardeau to Travis W. and Jami L. Abernathy.

He was a bright young man whose life ended much to soon. He had many joys in life -- hunting, fishing, camping, listening to music, love of food -- but mostly hanging with his family and friends and making people laugh. He had a heart so big and filled with so much love that he would brighten any room he walked into and brighten anyone's day. He just knew how to make you smile, and that will be so missed. His one wish was to never be forgotten. Forgetting someone so amazing could never be possible. Keep smiling, our little buddy.

Survivors include his father, Travis Wayne Abernathy of Cape Girardeau; mother, Jami L. Richardson of McClure, Illinois; sister, Sierra N. Abernathy of McClure; stepfather, Jimmy Richardson of McClure; stepsister, Jamie Richardson of Anna, Illinois; maternal grandparents, Melodie and Larry Stoffel of McClure; paternal grandmother, Judy Abernathy of Cape Girardeau; and many aunts, uncles and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and great-grandparents.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brad Baker officiating.

Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery in Dongola, Illinois.
