PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- John Amberger, 84, of Perryville died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at his home.

He was born Aug. 22, 1921, at Belgique, Mo., son of Frank and Beatrice Elizabeth Christisen Amberger. He and Alberta May Pick were married May 19, 1946. She died Oct. 19, 1999.

Amberger had farmed and worked at Perryville Airport. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, and American Legion Post 133.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a son, James Amberger of Perryville; three daughters, Sharon Nash of Camarillo, Calif., Kaye Cook of Cape Girardeau, Yvonne Kirn of Perryville; four brothers, Joseph Amberger of Anchorage, Alaska, Robert, Thomas and Harold Amberger of Perryville; a sister, Alice Kassel of Perryville; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, four brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and Thursday from 6:30 to 9 a.m. An American Legion wake will be held at 7 tonight.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 133.

A funeral will be held Thursday, December 1st, 2005 for 84-year-old John Amberger of Perryville, who died Monday, November 28th, 2005 at his home.

He was born August 22nd, 1921, the son of Frank and Beatrice (Christisen) Amberger. They preceded him in death.

He married Alberta Pick May 19th, 1946. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by a son and daughter in law, James and Tina Amberger of Perryville; three daughters and two sons in law, Sharon and Barry Nash of Camarillo, CA, Yvonne and Richard Kirn of Perryville, Kaye Cook of Cape Girardeau; a sister and brother in law, Alice and Norbert Kassel of Perryville; four brothers and two sisters in law, Thomas Amberger of Perryville, Joseph Amberger of Anchorage, AK, Robert and Nancy Amberger, Harold and Margie Amberger, all of Perryville; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Janice VanZandt; four brothers, Stanley, Franklin, Paul and William "Bill" Amberger; two sisters, Marie Amberger and Betty Sutterer.

He was a farmer, and was employed at the Perryville Airport. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving in World War II.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville and American Legion Post 133.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 30th, and from 6:30-9 a.m. Thursday, December 1st at the Young and Sons Chapel in Perryville. An American Legion wake is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel.

A funeral for 84-year-old John Amberger of Perryville will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 1st, 2005 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville. The Rev. Matthew Marks will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Church cemetery. American Legion Post 133 will provide military graveside honors.
