Aufdenberg, Ruby Augusta (nee Fluegge)

Ruby Augusta Aufdenberg, 95, entered her heavenly home on April 23, 2013.

She was born on the family farm near Tilsit, MO, on November 3, 1917, the daughter of the late Henry and Katherine (Nagel) Fluegge. Ruby was the youngest of ten children. She became a child of God through baptism on December 16, 1917, and confirmed her faith on May 10, 1931, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tilsit (Jackson). She graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School where she was taught in both English and German.

On November 17, 1935, Ruby married William A. Aufdenberg, Jr., at Immanuel Lutheran Parsonage. They moved to the William A. Aufdenberg, Sr., family farm near Burfordville, MO, where they lived a good farm life. When Immanuel Lutheran School at Tilsit closed in 1962, they transferred membership to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jackson, MO, where she remained faithful until death. They were married 33 years when the Lord called William home on August 28, 1969. Ruby sold the family farm and moved to Jackson in 1972. Her last years were spent at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, MO.

Ruby was an active member of St. Paul where every Sunday she attended church and Adult Bible Class. She generously supported her dear Lutheran Church-MO Synod and School. She belonged to the LWML and Ladies Aid, where she enjoyed quilting. She was a past member of the PTL, Sunday Morning Greeters, J.O.Y. (Senior) Group, and volunteered at The Lutheran Home sewing room. She loved to play the card game pitch. Her family enjoyed her well-known homemade bread and cinnamon rolls.

She was a devoted wife, and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her large family was the joy of her life and always loved having them around her and attending anything in which they were involved.

The Lord blessed their marriage with seven children who survive: Loustell (Joe) Ludwig, Elfrieda Williams, Carol (Walter) Kutscher, Richard W. (Judy) Aufdenberg, Loretta (Melvin) Uelsmann, Mary (Ralph) Walther, and David (Carla) Aufdenberg, all of Jackson.

Nineteen grandchildren include: Brenda (Pat) Wissman, Gary (Catherine) Ludwig, Ruth (Dennis) Moran, Beverly (Darren) Ross; Terry (Caroline) Williams, Alan (Jani) Williams, Scott (Renee) Williams; Timothy (Angela Thompson) Kutscher, Andrew (Amy King, fiancé) Kutscher; Matthew Aufdenberg, Amy (Michael) Cracraft, Connie (Robert) Kearns; Clint Uelsmann, Kristina (Brad) Stout; Ryan (Tina) Walther, Jana Walther, Leann (Shannon) Stinson; and Kyle Aufdenberg, Tommy Aufdenberg. Also, surviving are twenty-two great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, four step great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

With her passing, so ends a whole generation. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband; four brothers (Alvin, Paul, Robert, and Otto Fluegge); five sisters (Frieda Siebert, Dena Siebert, Bertha, Meta, and Dora Fluegge); all brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and a son-in-law L.R. Williams.

Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held at the church at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Henrichs and Rev. Jason Shaw officiating. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, School, or Radio Broadcast.

Pallbearers are her grandsons: Gary Ludwig, Scott Williams, Andrew Kutscher, Matthew Aufdenberg, Clint Uelsmann, Ryan Walther, and Kyle Aufdenberg. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Williams, Alan Williams, Timothy Kutscher, and Tommy Aufdenberg.
