Backfisch, Michael Joseph, Sr.

SCOTT CITY - Michael Joseph Backfisch Sr., 53, died Dec. 13, 2001, at his home.

Born April 26, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Joseph Lawrence and Lucille Rose Halter Backfisch, he was service manager for Ford Groves in Cape Girardeau and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg.

Survivors include: one son, Michael Backfisch Jr. of New Hamburg; one daughter, Michelle Backfisch of New Hamburg; three brothers, Harold Backfisch of Benton and Jerome Backfisch and Vincent Backfisch of New Hamburg; two sisters, Mary Ann Chaney of Bethalto, Ill., and Therese Ansberry of Cedar Hill, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and a special friend, Marcia Abernathy of Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where a prayer service is scheduled for 6 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating.

Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery at New Hamburg.

Pallbearers will be: Ron Oller, Tom Halter Jr., Danny Stotts, Charlie Wilson, Paul Hendrickson, Kyle Enderle and Jim McDonough.
