A funeral will be held Friday, August 29th, 2008 for 93-year-old Helen S. Balsman of Perryville, who died Tuesday, August 26th at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
She was born November 7th, 1914 in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of August and Mabel Dormeyer Sander.
She married Weldon Balsman on October 26th, 1936 in Perryville. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons: Larry Balsman in Miami, Florida; Thomas Balsman in Atlanta, Georgia and Steven Balsman in Memphis, Tennessee; five daughters: Nancy Berkbeugler in Friedheim, Mary Kaemphe in Ballwin, Sharon Balsman in St. Louis, Janice Keefe in Cape Girardeau and Deborah Vaeth in Brewer; 18 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
She was retired from the Miraculous Medal Association in Perryville, where she had been an office worker.
She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella in Perryville and was a volunteer at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. at the Gathering Space at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
A funeral for 93-year-old Helen S. Balsman of Perryville will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 29th at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Williams CM will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Association of the Miraculous Medal or a charity of choice.
The Miller Family Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
