Barks, Jacob "Jake" F.

Jackson - Funeral service for Jacob "Jake" Barks of Jackson will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Chapel. The Revs. Luther Rhodes and Jack Leslie will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Barks, 82 years old, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 1990, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born April 15, 1908 at Marble Hill, son of Avery and Zettie Kinder Barks. He and the former Ruby Crawford were married March 17, 1930. She died Feb. 2, 1981. He later married Alma Sawyer Seabaugh June 26, 1982.

He was a stationary engineer of Lescen Wire Rope Co. 28 years, and at Philadelphia Quartz Co. 10 years, both in St. Louis. He retired in 1973 and moved to Jackson.

Barks was a member of First General Baptist Church here and its Men's Brotherhood, and was a volunteer at St. Francis Medical Center three years. He was a former member of IBEW Local No. 1 in St. Louis.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Harold Barks of Sikeston; a sister, Dorothy bennett of Marquand; four granddaughters; a stepgrandson, and a great-stepgrandson.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
