Barks, James A. James Barks of Cape Passes Away

James A. Barks, 89 years old, a resident of Cape Girardeau for 55 years, died at 7:40 a.m. today at a nursing home.   His former home was at Broadway and Spanish.

Services will be held Monday at 2 at the Haman Funeral Home by the Rev. E. G. Andrews of the Baptist Church at Whitewater.  Interment will be in Barks Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Barks leaves five children, Clarence Barks of Clearwater, Fla.; Russell Barks of Cape, Mrs. F. A. Kaempfer of Cape, Mrs. C. A. Ford of Whitewater and B. J. Barks of St. Louis; a half brother H. J. Bridges of Pangburn, Ark.; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  A son and daughter preceded him in death.

Born Jan. 6, 1871 in Kentucky, he and Nellie Searcy were married in 1894 and she passed away in October of 1911.  While in Cape, Mr. Barks operated a taxicab.
