Barks, Lowell Lindell

PATTON, Mo. -- Lowell Lindell Barks, 65, of Sedgewickville, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at the Perry Oaks Manor in Perryville, Mo.

He was born May 19, 1937, in Sedgewickville, son of the late Philip and Estella Cook Barks.

Lowell and Barbara Stephens were married Aug. 23, 1963, and she survives.

He was a farmer and had worked at shoe factories in Lutesville, Mo., and Cape Girardeau and for the Lee Rowan Company in Jackson. Lowell was a member of the Little Whitewater Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 24 years. He also taught Sunday school.

Lowell graduated from the Patton High School in 1954 and was an Honorary Chapter Farmer for the Meadow Heights FFA Chapter. From 1954 until 1966, he served in the Missouri National Guard.

He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, watching and attending the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games.

Other survivors include a son, Lindell Barks of Sedgewickville; a son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Terri Barks of Sedgewickville; a grandson, Jacob; a brother, Noel Barks of Scott City; and a sister, Loraine Garland of Cape Girardeau.

His parents preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Liley Funeral Home in Patton, and from 9 to10 a.m. Tuesday at the Little Whitewater Missionary Baptist Church near Patton. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Donny Ford and the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Burial will follow in the Sedgewickville Cemetery.
