Barks, Scotty Leland

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Scotty L. (Scott) Barks of Marble Hill died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at Perry County, Mo., at the age of 50 years.

He was born at Cape Girardeau on Sept. 29, 1955, to Paul C. and Lucille Propst Barks.

Scott was a graduate of Meadow Heights High School in Patton and attended Cape Vo-Tech School, majoring in electronics. He was an accomplished mechanic for more than 30 years.

Loving survivors include his wife, Karen Kay Cook, whom he married on June 8, 1974. He and Karen had been nearly inseparable since junior high school. Also surviving is a son, Christopher Scott Barks, and a grandson, Noah Scott Barks, both of Marble Hill.

He was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting deer and turkey, tinkering on the family farm, but his greatest enjoyment was time spent with his grandson. They spent many hours enjoying each other's company.

Other survivors include his loving mother and father-in-law, Bill and Margie Cook of Marble Hill; two brothers, Larry Barks of Sedgewickville, Mo., and Jerry Barks of Jackson.

Preceding him in death were his parents and infant sister, Glenda.

Scott had a big grin for everyone and he had an infectious laughter. He will be missed by all who loved him.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Patton, Mo., on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Liley Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron Devenport and Rev. Jimmie Fulbright will officiate. His resting place will be at the Lixville Community Cemetery.
