Bartles, A. Stanley
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A. Stanley Bartles, 82, of 1115 Mason Dixon Road, died Friday, Nov.
22, 1996, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born Nov. 15, 1914, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Victor O. and Nellie Repp
Bartles.
He retired from Western Maryland Railway in Hagerstown, after 40 years of service.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Frances M. Binkley Bartles, whom he married March 12, 1938;
one daughter, Elouise M. Statler of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; one son, Richard
E. Bartles of Greencastle; two sisters, Louise Shuck and Naomi Ardinger, both of
Hagerstown; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Shindle; and one brother, Pearre Bartles.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S.
Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Stuart Troutman will officiate. Burial will be in
Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
