Baugher, Mable Ann (nee Verble)

Mable Ann Baugher, 77, of McClure, Ill., died Sunday, Jan., 20, 2002, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 23, 1924, in Tamms, Ill., daughter of John and Eva Goodman Verble.

She married Dallas Baugher in 1943. He preceded her in death in 1979.

She was a member of West Side Church of God in Cape Girardeau where she taught Sunday School for 40 years and was secretary of the W.C.G. for 25 years

Mable grew up on the family farm in Southern Illinois. Her greatest pleasure in life was serving others.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Baugher of Cape Girardeau, and Roger and Gary Baugher, both of McClure; three daughters, Laverne Smith of Cape Girardeau, Jean Gilliland of Jackson, Mo., and Phyllis Hizer of Butlerville, Ind.; two sisters, Margaret Fornkohl and Vivian Roth, both of Cape Girardeau; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jon Rehbein officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Derek, Kevin, Toni and Dean Baugher, Brian Smith, Chris and Newt Gilliland, and Rob Dennis.

Burial will be at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.
