Baugus, Calvin A. "C.A."

C.A. Baugus, 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Jan. 17, 1929, in Savannah, Tenn., son of Marvin R. and Ethel Ollie Clements Baugus. He and Rose Schaefer were married Nov. 13, 1948, in Piggott, Ark.

C.A. attended Diehlstadt and Sikeston, Mo., schools. He owned and operated Sikeston Diesel Shop many years. After closing the shop, he farmed in Southern Illinois and Benton, Mo. After retiring in 2009, he moved to Saxony Village in Cape Girardeau.

In addition to his loving wife of 65 years, he is survived by two daughters, Karen (Art) Turner of Columbus, Ind., and Jacquelyn (Steve) Rafferty of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Sarah (Aaron) Foote of Gordonville, Blake (Gretchen) Rafferty of Seattle, Scott (Trish) Rafferty of Ogden, Utah, and Natalie (Wayne) Saupe of Jackson; and five great-grandchildren, Owen Rafferty, Kendall Saupe, and Ellie, Mia and Lila Foote.

He was preceded in death by a son, James "Jim" Baugus; a brother; and a sister.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. until service time Friday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. A graveside committal will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Garden of Memories in Sikeston.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Lutheran Home Hospice.
