Beakley, Margie Ann (nee Payne)

Margie Ann Beakley, 78, of Jackson died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at Jackson Manor.

She was born Feb. 13, 1935, in Biggers, Ark., daughter of Virgil and Julia Mildred Highfill Payne. She and Larry Beakley were married Sept. 28, 1950. He preceded her in death March 2, 2013.

Margie was a lifetime member of the Union Light Church where she served for many years as a Sunday school teacher. She was an avid painter and enjoyed her art classes with her dear friends Dolly and Elaine and sister-in-law Carol. Sewing was her lifelong passion along with sharing her love of knitting with the Patton 4-H "Knitwit" Club. Margie and Larry traveled around the country selling their crafts for several years after their retirement. She also loved to fish.

Survivors include her daughters, Suzie (Robert) Lukefahr, Dena (Bruce) Mouser of Jackson and Connie (Roger) Dailey of Sedgewickville, Mo.; son-in-law, Richard Norris of St. Ann, Mo.; brother-in-law, Robert Beakley of St. Louis; sisters-in-law Carol (Junior) Roberts of Arnold, Mo.; Mary Hodges of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Glenna Norris, and great-granddaughter Therese Grindstaff.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Liley Funeral Home in Patton, Mo.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Union Light Church near Marquand, Mo., with the Rev. Donald Sander and the Rev. David McCutcheon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
