Beckett, Billy R.
Billy R. Beckett, 75, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, at his home.
He was born Oct. 17, 1934, in Cape Girardeau to John L. and Clemia Brown Beckett. He and Thelma M. Gibbons were married June 15, 1957, in Hernando, Miss.
Beckett served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960.
He then worked 18 years with Local 282 and Craftsman Union in Cape Girardeau, and 16 years with the city of Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma; six children and spouses, Joe (Sherry) Gibbons of Denver, John (Mary) Beckett and Jerry (Lisa) Beckett of Cape Girardeau, Joyce (Rick) Leible of Scott City, Jeffery (Lynn) Beckett and James (Kimra) Beckett of Cape Girardeau; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
A private visitation and memorial service will be held at the Church of God, 209 E. Cape Rock Drive. The Rev. Bill Kitchen will officiate. Committal service will be private at Kenyon Cemetery near Delta.
