Berkbigler, Mabel (nee Miget)

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Mabel Berkbigler, 98, of Perryville died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at Perry County Nursing Home.

She was born Sept. 1, 1903, in Perry County, daughter of Louis and Mary Huber Miget. She and Daniel J. Berkbigler Sr. were married Sept. 29, 1930. He died Feb. 14, 1982.

Berkbigler was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel Berkbigler of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., Robert Berkbigler of Perryville; six daughters, Marie Hinni of Cape Girardeau, Rose Mary Welter of Tucson, Ariz., Anna Mae Balsman of Miami, Fla., Nina Gross of Godfrey, Ill., Pearl Moore of Hammond, La., and Merle Bradford of Cassville, Mo.

Also surviving are two brothers, Weldon Miget of Perryville, Stephen Miget of Pekin, Ill.; three sisters, Elta Berkbigler and Eula Smith of Perryville, Patty Kirn of Crystal City, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and Saturday from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. The wake will be at 7 p.m. Friday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent's Church. The Rev. Kevin Fausz will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2002 for 98-year-old Mabel Miget Berkbigler of Perryville who died Wednesday, May 1 at Perry County Nursing Home.

She was born on Sept. 1, 1903 in Perry County, the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Huber) Miget.

She was married to Daniel J. Berkbigler, Sr. on Sept. 29, 1930. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1982.

Two sons and daughters-in-law survive, Daniel J. and Mary Ann Berkbigler of Ste. Genevieve; and Robert and Wanda Berkbigler of Perryville.

Six daughters and sons-in-law survive, Marie and John Hinni of Cape Girardeau; Rose Mary and Robert Welter of Tuscon, Ariz.; Anna Mae and Larry Balsman of Miami, Fla.; Nina and William Gross of Godfrey, Ill.; Pearl and William Moore of Hammond, Louisiana; and Merle and Edward Bradford of Cassville.

Two brothers and three sisters survive, Weldon Miget of Perryville; Stephen Miget of Pekin, Ill.; Elta Berkbigler of Perryville; Eula Smith of Perryville; and Patty Kirn of Crystal City.

Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Visitation will be Friday, May 3 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 6:30-9:30 a.m. at Young and sons Chapel. Thee will be a Catholic wake Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass for Mabel Miget Berkbigler will be held Saturday, May 4, 2002 at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Kevin Fausz CM will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial Preference is to Perry County Nursing Home.
