Dorothy Marie Besand, 85, formerly of Perryville, died March 28, 2014 at Delmar Gardens of O’Fallon in O’Fallon, MO.
She was born September 25, 1928 in Ste. Genevieve, MO, daughter of August and Mabel M. (Fassold) Welland. She and Edward Besand were married September 6, 1947. He preceded her in death on December 21, 1999.
Dorothy had worked for White Rogers. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and VFW Post 4282 Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Terry Besand of Smithville, MO, Craig Besand of St. Charles, Bradley Besand of St. Peters, MO; two sisters, Janet Kiefer of St. Louis, Velda Hennemann of Perryville; one sister-in-law, Thelma Welland; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Robert Welland.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 31 at Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and on Tuesday, April 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 am. She will then be taken to Immanuel Lutheran Church for service at 10:00 am with Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
