Beussink, Albert J.

Albert J. Beussink, 86, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born September 6, 1926, in Laflin, MO, son of Herman Beussink, Sr. and Mary Holzum Beussink. He and Hilda M. Thiele were married April 19, 1950.

Albert served in the United States Army from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He worked for Phillip Elfrink Construction Company from 1948 until 1963. In 1964 he founded Al’s Woodcraft and in 1966 co-founded Beussink Brothers Woodworks with his brother, Robert Beussink, Sr., and still remained active in the business. Albert was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson since 1950, the Men’s Sodality, Holy Name Society, and was a member of the Jackson Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a former little league coach in Jackson, a former member of Notre Dame High School Home and School Association and Booster Club. He was a member and former commander of the American Legion Altenthal-Joerns Post #158 in Jackson and served as an American Legion Honor Guard, a member of Cape Girardeau VFW Post #3838, and the Capaha Antique Car Club.

Loving survivors include his wife of 62 years, five sons, Steve (Deb) Beussink of Jackson, Don (Pam) Beussink of Lake St. Louis, MO, Mark (Geri) Beussink, Greg Beussink, John (Lisa) Beussink, all of Jackson; three daughters, Judi (Don) Niederkorn of Jackson, Sheila (Kevin) Ziegler of Gordonville, Cindy (Sean) Poston of Dardenne Prairie, MO; a brother, Herman (Virgie) Beussink, Jr. of Jackson; three sisters, Annie Spooler, Betty Jane Arnzen and Berniece (Jerome) Ziegler, all of Jackson; 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Sr., Gilbert, Leonard “Slim”, and Bernard Beussink, an infant sister, Theresa Beussink, a grandson and three granddaughters.

Friends may call Friday, October 5, 2012 from 4-8 PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with an American Legion service at 6:30 PM, followed by parish prayers. The Rosary, led by the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, will follow parish prayers.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 10:00 AM, at the church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to: Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Notre Dame High School, Giant Steps of St. Louis, or the Franciscan Sisters, T.O.R.
