Biri, Loyd James

Loyd James Biri, 81, of Jackson died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at his home.

He was born Aug. 14, 1924, at Old Appleton, Mo., son of Edward James and Nora M. Weisbrod. He and Georgia Mae Clingingsmith were married Aug. 14, 1948.

Biri had been a butcher and meat cutter at Pocahontas Dressed Meat Plant.

He served with the U.S. Army in Italy, France and Central Europe during World War II. He was awarded five Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart with three oak leaf clusters.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, James and Walter Biri of Jackson; a daughter, Barbara Maloney of Jackson; two sisters, Wilma Myers and Nata Nagel of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Capt. Georgia Rodgers and Majors Bob and Joyce Gauthier officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery with full military honors.
