Blankenship, Deborah Kay (nee Biester)

Deborah Kay Blankenship, 59, of Jackson passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014, at her home.

She was born Dec. 29, 1954, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Melvin H. and Lorene M. Fluegge Biester. She and Randy Blankenship were married Sept. 1, 1984.

Deborah was a 1973 graduate of Jackson High School. She worked at Clarklift in Cape Girardeau from 1977 to 1984, and at Mitsubishi International in Houston, Texas, from 1984 to 1991. She most recently was a secretary at Forklifts of Cape Inc. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

Loving survivors include her husband of 29 years, Randy; a son, Staff Sgt. Derek Blankenship, United States Air Force, of Navarre, Florida; two brothers, Ronald (Judy) Biester of Cape Girardeau and Larry (Charleen) Biester of Jackson; a sister, Karen Bergfeld (fiance, Kent Ladig) of St. Louis; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from noon to service time Sunday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jason Shaw officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the church or charity of choice.
