Blank, Harry Jake

Harry Jake Blank, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 1, 2013, at his home.

He was born Feb, 14, 1932, in Cape Girardeau County to Edwin John and Freda Margaret Will Blank.

He and Hazel Annette Starkey were married June 23, 1960, in Cape Girardeau.

He was a member of Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans No. 16, Eagles Aerie No. 3775, Elks Lodge 639 and the SEMO Cattlemen's Association. Harry farmed all his life, worked on the river as a deckhand and tankerman for many years, and also worked at Atlas/Spartech Plastics for 26 years.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Blank of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Paula R. Blank of Pocahontas; a sister, Marticia Schrader of Cape Girardeau; a grandson, Shane Joseph Voshage of Cape Girardeau; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rodger Rice officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with full military rites conducted by the Missouri Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church.
