Bollinger, Doris C. (nee Stady)
Doris C. Bollinger, 81, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Nov. 11, 1933, in Advance, Missouri, to Jesse and Cola Long Stady. She and Harold H. "Gus" Bollinger were married Sept. 12, 1952, in Jackson. They had been married 59 years when Gus passed away March 16, 2012.
Doris was a 1951 graduate of Jackson High School. She worked more than 30 years at the former Associated Natural Gas Co. in Jackson, retiring in 1992.
She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, the Fellowship Committee and the Shepherd Group, which is a group of members who commit to helping others in various meaningful ways. She was consistently involved in countless other church activities, always working behind the scenes, without regard for personal credit. Her pastor probably described her best when he said, "Doris quietly lived out her faith in a way that was important to people."
Other activities Doris enjoyed were fishing with Gus, gardening, walking her dog, and the company of neighbors and friends.
Loving survivors include two children, Susan Smith of Jackson and her husband Dr. Steven Smith of Texas and Stephen Bollinger of Pocahontas; a grandson, Tyler Bollinger of Jackson; a brother, Wayne Stady of Cape Girardeau; a sister-in-law, Jane (the late Roger) Stady of California; and a dear niece, Carla Knotts of Jackson.
In addition to her husband and brother, Roger, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jean (Bud) Burns; and an infant sister, Wilma Lee Stady.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be private.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to First Presbyterian Church in Jackson or Southeast Hospice.
