Bollinger, Loyd Leslie

Loyd L. Bollinger, 89, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born April 15, 1923, in Sedgewickville, Mo., to William Daniel and Flossie May Barks Bollinger. He married Muriel Marie Conrad June 4, 1944, at Sargent's Chapel Lutheran Church in Sedgewickville. That union was blessed with three children, Hope Marie, and twin sons, Wynn Leslie and Lynn Wesley Bollinger. Muriel passed away April 3, 1958. Loyd then married Imogene Dickison Dalton Aug. 10, 1962, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau.

After graduating from Sedgewickville High School, he and Muriel married and moved to St. Louis where he worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. They then moved to Cape Girardeau and he worked at International Shoe Co. 40 years, retiring in 1985. Loyd was a member and past deacon of Evangelical Church, where he sang in the choir and served on many boards.

He is survived by his wife, Imogene Bollinger of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Hope (James C.) Essner of Kelso, Mo.; a son, Wynn (Linda) Bollinger of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Tamara (David) Glastetter and sons Nathan, Justin and Dylan of Raytown, Mo., Todd (Amy) Essner and sons Kaden and Jeremy of Oak Ridge, Toni (Lance) Craft and children Skylar and Kael of Jackson, Laura and Christa Bollinger of Cape Girardeau; two stepgrandchildren, Casey (Rodney) Brown and children Callie and Alex Brown of Fruitland and Kelly (Jason) Kniess and son Wyatt of Patterson, Mo.

In addition to his first wife, Muriel, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Lynn Wesley, Dec. 22, 1951; a stepson, William Clifford Dalton, July 8, 2011; and a stepgrandson, Caleb William Brown, Oct. 4, 2002.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dan Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be given to Evangelical United Church of Christ Building Fund.
