Boxdorfer, Wanda Louise (nee Brown)

Wanda Louise Boxdorfer, 75, of Gallipolis, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Ohio State University Medical Center-Ross Heart Hospital.

Born Sept. 19, 1933, in Perry County, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Moritz and Ellen Doll Brown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Marvin G. Boxdorfer, whom she married Sept. 13, 1952, and who preceded her on June 19, 1999. Also preceding her were three sisters, Lucille Morgan, Dolores Martens and Gladys Riney; and four brothers, Glennon, Moritz “Sonny,” Donald and Lester Brown.

Wanda is survived by one daughter, Laura A. (Dave) Laslow of Marysville; one son, Marvin “Tony” (Linda) Boxdorfer of Greenwood, Ind.; one sister, Jean Funk of St, Louis, Mo.; one brother, Clyde Brown of Perryville, Mo.; four grandchilden, Shannon (Kyle) Giltner and Jennifer Townsend, both of Indianapolis, Ind., David A. Laslow of Cincinnati, and Nathan B. Laslow of Marysville; and two great-grandsons, Joshua Gibbons and Gabriel Townsend.

Wanda was a retired employee of Reliance Electric, and a member of New Life Lutheran Church. Wanda was active with the Emblem Club No. 199 in Gallipolis, where she served as president. In June 2008, she was elected third vice president of the State Association of Emblem Clubs. She also served as the Supreme Press Correspondent for District 3.

Wanda greatly enjoyed golfing. She was a member of the Cliffside Golf Club and served as treasurer of the local Ladies Golf Association for many years. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009, at the New Life Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Scott Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m.

An Emblem Club service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8 p.m. by the Gallipolis Emblem Club No. 199.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the New Life Lutheran Church Building Fund.
