Betty Jean Boyd, 91, of Perryville, Mo., died Aug. 3, 2013, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 6:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Young & Sons Funeral Home, with an American Legion Auxiliary wake Tuesday evening...

A funeral will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2013 for 91-year-old Betty Jean Boyd of Perryville who died August 3, 2013 at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville.

She was born March 21, 1922 in Springfield, the daughter of August W. and Lillie (Blaylock) Lix, who both preceded her in death.

She married Howard Berkbuegler on February 22, 1941. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1971.

She married Delmar Boyd were on May 17, 1975. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2010.

She is survived by two sons and two daughters: Stanley (Anna) Berkbuegler, Carol Newell, Judith (Charles) Lilly and Lynn (Peggy) Berkbuegler, all of Perryville; two stepsons: Allen (Alma) Boyd of Jackson and Kenneth (Madonna) Boyd of Oregon; two stepdaughters: Joyce (Charles) Hurst of St. Mary and Wanda Boyd of St. Louis; a brother, Col. Robert (Sally) Lix, Ret. of Haines, Alaska; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Eula Renner.

She was also preceded in death by a sister: Sylvia Seabaugh; and three grandsons: Michael, Billy and Daniel Berkbuegler.

Betty had been a bookkeeper at Farm Bureau Co-op Feed Store and a grocery checker at Rozier’s and IGA Foodliner.

She was a member of United Methodist Church, Methodist Women Society, American Legion Post 133 Auxiliary, and Charter and Life Member of VFW Post 4282 Auxiliary.

She was a a past member of the Church Administrative Board. She helped organize and was past secretary of the Sponsor Board of Perry County Nutrition Center for 20 years. She was past president and District President of the American Legion Auxiliary and past Board Member and President of Perry County Sheltered Workshop.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 6 and 6:30-10 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Young & Sons Funeral Home. An American Legion Auxiliary Wake will be held Tuesday evening.

A funeral for 91-year-old Betty Jean Boyd of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013. The Rev. Anne Saegesser will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to United Methodist Church.
