Boyer, James L., Sr.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- James L. Boyer Sr., 78, died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville.

He was a veteran of the Korean conflict.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. until time of service Sunday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 133 and the Marine Corps. Burial will be private.

James L. Boyer, Sr. died March 31, 2011 at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville, MO. He was 78.

He was born in Feirtel, MO on June 7, 1932 son of the late Louis Rhuesan and Gladys M. (Boyer) Boyer. He and Leola Cecilia Tackaberry were married on November 30, 1978. She preceded him in death on July 5, 2005.

Other survivors include four sons; James L. Boyer, Jr. of Arnold, MO., Daniel (Janet) Boyer of O'Fallon, MO., Mark Boyer of St. Charles, MO., and Matthew (Mary) Boyer of St. Louis County, MO., two daughters; Marsha (Gregory) Zotta of Jefferson County, MO., Myra Hall of Kansas City, MO., one step son; Bruce Cory of St. Louis, Mo., one step daughter; LoLa Ann Crowder of Granite City, IL., two sisters; Mary Chambers of St. Louis, MO., and Sandra Severs of Florissant, MO. fourteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one step daughter; Karen Mayer, one step son; Gregory Cory, one sister; Dorothy Sides, and one brother; Clifton Boyer.

Mr. Boyer was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, US Veteran of Korean Conflict, American Legion Post 89 in St. Louis, Disabled American Veteran Chapter #1 life member in St. Louis, Marine Corps League and Southside Detachment in St. Louis.

Visitation for Mr. Boyer will be held at Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville, MO on Saturday, April 2 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and on Sunday, April 3 from 8:00 am until time of Service at 1:00 pm.

Funeral Service will be held at Young & Sons Funeral Home on Sunday, April 3 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 133 & the Marine Corps. Private Burial.

Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.
