Brant, Victor L.

Victor L. Brant, 89, of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 14, 1922 in Ancell to Iven D. and Clara E. Diebold Brant. He and Willie B. Sherwood were married March 8, 1950, at Eunice, N.M.

Victor served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Asiatic and Pacific theatres.

He received a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri. His career consisted of research, technical service, plant design and consulting. He worked for Sterns Rogers and Monsanto. He designed several pilot plants to test processes developed by organizations sponsored by the Department of Energy and also authored several papers published in technical journals.

After retirement, he was devoted nearly full time to researching problems in government, and he wrote the book "Wake Up America."

Survivors include his wife, Willie B. Brant of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Jim (Paula) Brant of Littleton, Colo., Michael S. Brant of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Vicki S. (Rick) Dye of Paducah, Ky., Kathy L. (Paul) Breitenstein of Patton, Mo.; one sister, Rita Fornkohl of Jackson; a half-brother, Norman (Judy) Brant of Scott City,; a half-sister, Karry Brant of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister and one grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Lance officiating.

Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Rick Dye officiating at the cemetery. Graveside military rites will be provided by the Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Missouri Veterans Home, 2400 Veterans Memorial Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
