Braun, Ferdinand "Fred" John

Ferdinand J. "Fred" Braun, 94, of Mountain Home, Ark., died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Good Samaritan Village.

He was born Feb. 3, 1913, in Jackson, son of Arthur E. and Emma M. Baumgardt Braun. He and Myrtle L. Kaempfe of Mountain Home were married Oct. 17, 1938, by the Rev. Wiseman at St. Mary's rectory.

Formerly of Cape Girardeau, Fred owned and operated Braun's Grocery from 1941 to 1967, and had also worked at Blechle's Grocery and Child's IGA. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Knights of Columbus Council 1111 and Cape Grocery Association.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Fred Braun of Kenai, Alaska, Mike Braun of Alexandria, Va.; three daughters, Jeanne (Wayne) Roth of Gamaliel, Ark., Kathleen (Jerry) Sanders of Thompson Falls, Mont., Sharon Braun of Jackson; a son-in-law, Ron Koenig of Jackson; a brother, Charles Braun of Phoenix; three sisters, Loyola Watts of St. Charles, Mo., Sister Therese Braun of Wheaton, Ill., Rita Schmidt of Cape Girardeau; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Braun; a daughter, Mary Koenig; a brother, Michael Braun; three sisters, Sister Mary Clara Braun, Sister Roseanne Braun, and Anna Braun.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Thomas Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Notre Dame Regional High School.
