Brown, Floyd Edgar

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Floyd Edgar Brown, 79, of Marble Hill died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at his home.

He was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Marble Hill, son of Roy and Eula Belle Nanney Brown. He and Virginia Crites were married Sept. 28, 1944, in Paragould, Ark.

Brown was a school bus driver for Woodland School district for 22 years and also owned The Watch Shop in Lutesville, Mo., where he was a jeweler and watch repairman. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II, seeing service in China, Burma and India. He received three Bronze Stars.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Frank Brown of Valmeyer, Ill., Dennis Brown of Marble Hill; three brothers, Howard Brown, Roy Brown Jr., both of Marble Hill, Bill Brown of Texas; four sisters, Esther Garner, Margie Stevens, both of Marble Hill, Lavern Cloninger, Katerine Borders, both of The Dells, Ore.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hutchings Funeral Chapel.

Funeral will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Darrell Faire Sr. officiating.
