Brown, Fred W.

Fred W. Brown, 90, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of New Wells, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Southeast Hospital.

He was born Aug. 2, 1923, near New Wells, to Edward and Mary Stanley Brown.

Fred farmed near New Wells his entire life, farming livestock and row cropping. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells and a former church elder. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1987 after retiring from farming.

Loving survivors include a stepson, David (Janie) Meyr of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Tracy Meyr of St. Louis; a grandson, Chad (Mallory) Meyr of Jackson; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Betty Heuring of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to service time Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lawrence Bradt officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in New Wells.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Cemetery.
