Services for Jerry Carlysle Brown, 57, of Austin, Texas, were held May 2 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Mr. Brown died April 30, 2008, at his home after a lingering illness.

Jerry was born Oct. 6, 1950, in Nashville, Tenn., and lived most of his life in Austin and in Painesville.

Jerry was twice voted "Citizen of the Year" at Shipe Park. He was an outstanding football player for Baker Jr. High in Austin. He served as a lifeguard and taught swimming lessons at many Austin pools. Mr. Brown was a roofer and general handy man.

Survivors are his brothers, John (Terri) of Austin, Jimmy of Georgetown, Texas, and Joe (JoAn) of Painesville; sister, Jeanne Rosenkrans of Round Rock, Texas; and numerous friends, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Jason; and parents, Chester and Iona.

Arrangements were handled by Beck Funeral Home in Round Rock.
