Burger, Gerald Robert, Sr.
ROCKVIEW, Mo. -- Gerald Robert Burger Sr., 70, of Rockview passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at his home.
He was born Jan. 12, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, son of Lester and Stella Park Burger. He and Linda Borders were married May 9, 1963, at Zalma, Missouri.
Gerald retired after 26 years as a worker for the city of Cape Girardeau. He liked to collect odds and ends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a heart of gold and never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Burger of the home; a son, G. Robbie (Dawn) Burger Jr. of Benton, Missouri; a daughter, Sheila (Robbie Jr.) Hansen of Jackson; a brother, Marvin Burger of Zalma; a sister, Joyce Schmitz of Jackson; two grandchildren, Jessica Sagers and Joshua Burger; two great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren, Carlos, Mike, Nick and Taylor; and four great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Max Burger and Lester Burger Jr.; and two sisters, Betty Kinder and Samella Burger.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, Missouri.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. J.D. Borders officiating. Burial will be in Balch Cemetery near Zalma.
