Case, Jim

Jim Case, 89, of Jackson passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 20, 1922, in Beulah, Mo., son of Squire and Mattie Fore Case. He and Loudean O. Abernathy Jones were married June 30, 1984

Jim was inducted into the United States Army on Nov. 3, 1942. He was awarded three Bronze Service Stars and a Bronze Star Medal. He was honorably discharged Oct. 22, 1945.

He was a manager of the former TG&Y Store in Rolla and Flat River, Mo., and was a bus driver for the Farmington School District in Farmington, Mo., retiring in 1984. He and Loudean moved to Jackson in 2007 from Doe Run, Mo. He enjoyed playing the mandolin and wood carving, often attending area craft fairs. He was a member of Calvary Temple in Fredericktown, Mo.

Loving survivors include his wife of 27 years; four sons, James David Case Jr., Gary Case and Larry Case, all of Jefferson City, Mo., James Timothy Case of Roanoke, Va.; eight stepchildren; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today at First General Baptist Church in Jackson, with the Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Ozark Hills Memorial Garden in Rolla. Full military honors will be provided.

The family suggests memorials be made to Special Needs Ministry of First General Baptist Church in Jackson.

McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
