PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Harry J. "Frenchie" Chappius, 92, of Perryville died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday in the Gathering Space at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with graveside military honors.

A funeral will be held Monday, February 4, 2013 for 92-year-old Harry J. "Frenchie" Chappius, of Perryville, who died January 30, 2013 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born August 9, 1920 in Perryville, the son of August Chappius and Cecilia Weinkein Chappius who both preceded him in death.

He married Vivian B. Bendel in Perryville on April 25, 1944. She survives in Perryville.

He is also survived by a son: Bruce (JoAnna) Chappius of Perryville; two step grandchildren: Penny Allen of Perryville and Buddy Gene (Julia) Allen of Pevely; three step great grandchilren; Jordan Allen, Tori Allen and Rachel Allen all of Pevely; a nephew: Don Chappius and a niece: Helen Heady.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Carl, Elmo and Floyd, and three sisters: Lenita Weber, Zita Post and Earlene Franklin.

He worked at the International Shoe Factory.

He was a United States Coast Guard veteran, serving during World War II.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, V.F.W Post 4282, American Legion Post No. 133, and was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Monday, February 4th in the Gathering Space of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

A funeral Mass for 92-year-old Harry J. "Frenchie" Chappius, of Perryville will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Milton Ryan, CM will officiate.

Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery with graveside military honors courtesy of American Legion Post No. 133 and the Delta Team.

Memorials may be made to the Ladies of Charity, Masses or Charity of Choice.

Miller Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
