Clifton, Laverne E. (nee Rhyne)
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Laverne E. Clifton, 90, of Perryville passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at her home.
She was born Dec. 6, 1922, in Seventy-Six, Mo., daughter of John Edward and Ruth Louise Louveau Rhyne.
Mrs. Clifton was a cook at Park-Et Restaurant for 24 years. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Crosstown, Mo.
Survivors include four sons, James (Sharon) Clifton of Texas, Dallas (Sue) Clifton, Michael Clifton and Thomas (Yvonne) Clifton, all of Perryville; three daughters, Joyce (Larry) Mehner and Cathy (George "Ed") Elder of Perryville, Diane (Randy) Elfrink of Oak Ridge; two sisters, Darlene "Dot" Noe of Red Bud, Ill., Jeanette DeRousse of Energy, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Ardell LaFloure, Vernon Rhyne, Glennon Rhyne; five sisters, Frances Engert, Jewell Carr, Eleanor Franklin, Violet Derry and Juanita Bova.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 6:30 to 8 a.m. Monday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Crosstown, with the Rev. Mike Friesz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Bethlehem Baptist Church in Crosstown.
