Conrad, Loy Alden

Loy A. Conrad of Perryville, died Saturday, June 7, 1997 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was 87.

He was born on Aug. 15, 1909 in Perry County, the son of the late Gilbert and Flossie (Murray) Conrad. He was married on April 21, 1931 to Ora Shrum, who preceded him in death on Aug. 16, 1978. He then married on May 30, 1981 to Alma Loberg, who preceded him in death on May 21, 1987.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Richard and Edna Conrad of Jackson, Tenn. and Roger "Lynn" and Janet Conrad of Perryville; one brother and two sisters, Ralph Conrad, Utah; Marie Shrum, Marble Hill and Alma Statler, Perryville; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, two brothers, one sister and one grandchild.

He was a teacher at Patton for 21 years and for Perry County for 20 years. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Crossroads United Methodist church, Retired Teachers Association and Missouri Cattlemens Association.

The family prefers memorials to be made to Crossroads United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will also be today, Tuesday, June 10 at Young and Sons Chapel at 6:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The funeral service will be Tuesday at Young and Sons Chapel at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Davis officiating. Burial will be in Crossroads United Methodist Cemetery.
