Cook, Bessie Ruth (nee Stratton)
Bessie Ruth Cook, 80, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Feb. 18, 1934, in Marble Hill, Missouri, daughter of James "Mattie" and Ruth Caroline Seabaugh Stratton. She and Perry Elmer Cook were married Dec. 5, 1951. He passed away Nov. 30, 2010.
Bessie had been a waitress and seamstress, and owned and operated a day-care center. She was a member of Mount Zion Church.
Survivors include a son, Duane E. Cook of Marble Hill; two daughters, Katherine Linnette Cook and Peggy Joann Rauh of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, James Stratton of Mount Sterling, Illinois, Fairley and Lynn Stratton of Marble Hill; four sisters, Mary Fowler, Lela Herron, Agnes (Hernandez) Atchison and Gail Leslie of Marble Hill; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ray Greenlee officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Scopus, Missouri.
