Cook, Dorothy Alvine (nee Garland)

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Dorothy Alvine Cook, 86, of Marble Hill passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at the home of a daughter, surrounded by family.

She was born Dec. 3, 1926, to James Jefferson and Myrtle Lillie Cook Garland. She and Odie Franklin Cook were married Feb. 19, 1944. He passed away June 10, 2009.

Dorothy was an inspector at a hat factory and was a member of Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Bobby (Eyvon) Cook of Marble Hill; four daughters, Joyce (Gene) Miller of Garden City, Kan., Mary Lee (Jerry) Sander, Carolyn (Gary) Sander and Connie Stewart, all of Millersville; two sisters, Geraldine Cook and Melba Dean Cook of Marble Hill; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sharon Ann Malito; four brothers, Ransom, Lenwood, Hobert and Junior; and two sisters, Donie Cook and Luddie Cook.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Kenny Cook and Jimmie Fulbright officiating. Burial will be in Hurricane Fork Cemetery near Marble Hill.
