Cook, Melba D. "Peg" (nee Garland)

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Melba "Peg" D. Cook, 81, of Marble Hill passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at her home.

She was born Dec. 19, 1931, at Lutesville, Mo., daughter of James Joseph and Myrtle Lillie Cook Garland. She and John Dave Cook were married Dec. 13, 1947, at Marble Hill, and he passed away Feb. 16, 2006.

She worked as a sewing- machine operator for the Hat Factory and was a member of the General Baptist faith.

Survivors include a son, Gary W. Cook, and a sister Geraldine Cook, both of Marble Hill; two granddaughters, Misty Douglas and Tory Turner, both of Marble Hill; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Ransom, Lenwood, Hobert and Junior; and sisters Donie Cook, Luddie Cook and Dorothy Alvine Cook.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Micah Bristow and the Rev. Jimmie Fulbright officiating. Burial will be in Hurricane Fork Church Cemetery near Marble Hill.
