Cook, Odell, Rev.

The Rev. Odell Cook, 87, of Jackson died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 26, 1916, in Mayfield, Mo., son of Hunter E. and Barbara James Cook. He and Birtie Garland were married Sept. 15, 1935.

The Rev. Cook was ordained to the ministry in 1951 at Old Liberty Presbytery, pastored several churches in the area and was a member of Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bobby Cook and the Rev. Donald Cook, both of Marble Hill, Mo.; three daughters, Fern Cory of Cape Girardeau, Shirley Hovis of Hiram, Mo., and Glenda Cook of Jackson; a sister, Elsie Fulbright of St. Louis; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill and at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Revs. Floyd Grindstaff, Jimmie Fulbright, Jessie Long and Steven Sander officiating. Burial will be in Hurricane Fork Cemetery near Patton, Mo.
