Cooper, Peter Eugene "Pete"

Peter Eugene "Pete" Cooper, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

He was born Oct. 12, 1930, at Scott City, son of Peter Daniel and Ruth Greer Cooper. He and Waneta L. Adams were married May 26, 1952, at Paragould, Ark.

Cooper was self-employed as a scrap-metal dealer in the Cape Girardeau area for over 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Waneta L. Cooper of Cape Girardeau; six daughters, Sharon Craft of St. Peters, Mo., Kim Compass of Scott City, Evelyn Grubb, Dianna Petry, Patty Hicks and Veronica Cooper of Cape Girardeau; an honorary daughter, Becky Wren Stinnett of Cape Girardeau; a brother, James "Salty Dog" Cooper of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Vera Cooper of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Minister Earl H. Norman will officiate, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of choice.
