PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Raymond V. Courtois, 91, of Destin, Florida, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, in Destin. He was formerly of Perryville. Raymond was an Army veteran of World War II. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and 6:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Young & Sons Funeral Home. The parish wake will be at 5 p.m. Friday.

Raymond V. Courtois passed away on, February 3, 2015 in Destin, Florida. Beloved husband of Mary Jane Courtois (nee Hartwell), and Vernice Courtois (nee Weilmuenster, D. 1973); loving father of Michael (Connie), Karen (David), David (Irina), Diane (Jeffery); and loving stepfather of Gerald (D. 2015), Mark (Debbi), Thomas, Timothy (Melissa), Rick, and James. Adoring grandfather of 18; great-grandfather of 12.

Ray attended St. Vincent High School in Perryville, MO; was a WWII veteran participating as a communications specialist in the Normandy Landing, as well as a fuel-truck driver servicing Patton’s Third Army Tank Corps. He retired from SW Bell Telephone in 1982, fell in love with the beautiful Emerald Coast of Florida, and settled, with his adored wife, Janie, in Freeport, FL, where he ruled numerous golf courses, and was the scourge of freshwater fish in the waters of the Estates of Lake Sharon.

Ray is survived by his brother, Richard Courtois of Perryville, MO, and his sisters-in-law, Shirley Courtois of Perryville, MO, Wilma Jones of Bloomsdale, MO, and Carol (Shirley) Boughton of Freeport, FL. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Albert J. and Mary Courtois, his brothers, Albert, Aloysius, and Charles, his sister, Rita, and his sisters-in-law, Francis, Wanda, and Theresa Courtois, and Violet Gainey and Melva Lee Weilmuenster, and brothers-in-law, Tom Gainey and George Weilmuenster.

Visitation will be held at Young & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, February 13 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm with a parish wake at 5:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, February 14 from 6:30 to 10:00 am. He will then be taken to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for Mass at 10:30 am with Rev. Milton Ryan CM officiating. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military graveside honors provided by American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team.
