Cox, Odell H.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 for 90-year-old Odell H. Cox of Sainte Genevieve who died Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living in Sainte Genevieve.

He was born Wednesday, December 22, 1920 in Menfro, the son of Charles H. Cox and Ada Mary (Warren) Cox who both preceded him in death.

He married to Lena M. (Vest) Cox on Wednesday, June 18, 1941. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by two daughters: Gloria F. (Bob) Means of Sainte Genevieve and Alana G. (Paul) Drury; three sons: Kenneth E. Cox of Sainte Genevieve; Samuel R. Cox of Sainte Genevieve and Charles E. (Roberta) Cox of Rolla; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; and dear friends.

He was also preceded in death by a son: Gary W. Cox; six sisters: Edna Cox, Laverne Cox, Leola Blechle, Lillian McCarthy, Freida Hudson and Irma Peters and a brother: Raymond Cox

He graduated from Ste. Genevieve High School in 1939.

He was employed by Missouri Utilities Company and successor company (Citizens Electric Corporation) for 42 years. He retired December 31, 1982, having served as general manager and second vice president for the previous 7 1/2 years.

He was a charter member of First Baptist Church in Ste. Genevieve.

He was a World War II veteran. He was a former member of the Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, Ozark Regional Library Board, Red Cross blood drive chairman and member of the executive board of the Mineral Area Baptist Association.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Basler Funeral Home, Ste. Genevieve.

A funeral for 90-year-old Odell H. Cox of Sainte Genevieve will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve. The Rev. Bill Whitener will officiate.

Burial will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve
