Crader, Delthia Viola (nee Eakins)

Delthia V. Crader, 85, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born July 19, 1923, in Burfordville to Sylvanus and Hester Proffer Eakins. She and Russell Crader were married Sept. 5, 1942. He passed away May 1, 2006.

Delthia was a lifetime member of Bethlehem General Baptist Church in Crump, taught Sunday school many years and was a charter member of the Hester Eakins Missionary Society.

She was an avid quilter, a homemaker in the truest sense and was a charter member of the Sunshine Homemakers Club, which prepared countless bereavement meals for their respective church families, friends and neighbors.

When given the opportunity, she enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends. Those for whom she cared will fondly remember Delthia for her kind heart, welcoming spirit and attentive nature.

Loving survivors include a son, R. David (Gail) Crader of Jackson; a daughter, Brenda (Wilburn) Sparks of Jackson; five grandchildren, Amber (Jason) Weaver, Kevin (Melissa) Sparks, Russell David (Amy) Crader II, Dr. Garrett (Amy) Sparks, Dawn (Larry) Dauer; five great-grandchildren, BreeAnna, Bryce, Braydon, Noah, Grant; a brother, Doyle Wayne (Wanda) Eakins of Whitewater; four sisters, Delma (Carl) Stroder of Jackson, Della Mae Abernathy of Jackson, Deanna (Vincent) Friedrich of Oak Ridge, Darlene Eakins of Whitewater, and sister-in-law, Shirley Eakins of Marble Hill, Mo.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Eakins, and a sister, Dorothy Scholz.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with brothers Joe Allen, Willis Smith and Jimmie Fulbright officiating.

Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

In Delthia's memory, the family suggests contributions to Hester Eakins Missionary Society or American Cancer Society.
