Crader, Mary Jane (nee Kinder)

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Mary Jane Crader, 84, of Marble Hill went to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011.

She was born May 25, 1927, in Marble Hill, to John and Mae Filer Kinder. She and J. Roy Crader were married June 18, 1948, in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death July 14, 1999.

Mary had worked in the Division of Employment Security, taught school at Trace Creek and in the Zalma area, was a substitute teacher at Marble Hill, worked for Glenn Seabaugh in the insurance office selling car licenses and titles. She worked for the county superintendent of schools for the 50-plus schools in Bollinger County and worked in the shipyards office in Richmond, Calif., during World War II.

In 1958 she was elected to the office of county clerk in Bollinger County for five terms, then elected to the treasurer's office for one term. She was a longtime member of Marble Hill United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Mark (Mary) and Lynn (Kathleen) of Sikeston, Mo.; a daughter, Sherry (Jr.) of Marble Hill; six grandchildren, Laura King, Chris (Anne) Crader, Erin and Ella Crader, all of Sikeston, Lisa Baker of Marble Hill and Adam (Sara) Baker of Cape Girardeau; three great-grandchildren, Kristin King and Benton Crader of Sikeston, Grace Baker of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Ercle (Margie) Kinder of Marble Hill; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Edward; a sister, Ella Mae; and a grandson, David A. Baker.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at Marble Hill United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with Lynn Crader officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.

Liley Funeral Home at Marble Hill is in charge of arrangements.
