Criddle, Myrtle B. (nee Sander)

Myrtle B. Criddle, age 96, formerly of Burfordville, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 9, 1913, near Millersville, daughter of Jesse J. and Desdia Stroder Sander. She and Oda "O.D." Criddle were married Dec. 14, 1932. He passed away Feb. 25, 1990.

Myrtle worked at the former dress factory in Jackson and Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was a lifelong member of Haynes Chapel Congregational Methodist Church near Burfordville, where she was the oldest living member. She had been the church secretary and a Sunday school teacher. She was a former member of Burfordville Homemakers Club.

Loving survivors include two sons, Carl (Geraldine) Criddle of Burfordville and Neil Criddle of Palm Dale, Calif.; a daughter, Joyce (Don) James of Marble Hill, Mo.; a brother, the Rev. Donald Sander of Millersville; three sisters, Helen Jones and Isadore Ackman of St. Louis, and Melba Smith of Cape Girardeau; and a special friend, Ellen Joshlin of Burfordville.

Also surviving are three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Criddle, in July 1944; an infant brother and sister; two brothers; and three sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, and after 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday, May 27, at Haynes Chapel Congregational Methodist Church.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Jerry Sander officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Stroder Cemetery.
