Crites, Forrest Benton "Bud"

Crites, Forrest Benton "Bud"

Forrest Benton "Bud" Crites, 83, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at his home in Roseville, Calif.

He was born May 18, 1928, in Cape Girardeau, son of Louis and Anna Crites.

He was an accomplished basketball star while playing for the former College High Preps; Bud's team made it to the state semifinals in his senior year 1946, and he was named All-State.

In 1950, he relocated the family to California for new employment opportunities. Bud went to work for Union Oil, where he rose through the ranks to become instrument shop foreman at the time of his retirement in 1987.

He spent his life assuming he could do anything, and he worked hard to pass that trait on to his children and grandchildren. When given a challenge at work to learn a new trade, Bud jumped at the opportunity, studying computers alongside employees 20 years younger and excelling.

Bud was preceded in death by two sisters, Lavonda Kelso and Shirley Crites.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Wanda; two daughters, Sherry Reams and Sue Allen; two grandchildren, Michele Gordon and Drew Reams; two great-grandchildren, Cole Paton and Finley Gordon; two sisters, Ilania and Earlene Crites.

There was no service.
