Daume, Ruth L. (nee Graden)
A funeral will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 for 84-year-old Ruth L. Daume of Perryville who died January 12, 2014 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.
She was born February 17, 1929 in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Louis E.T. and Ella (Haertling) Graden who preceded her in death.
She married Edward H. Daume, Sr. on April 3, 1949. He survives in Perryville.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons: Brenda (Ken) Erhard of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Patricia (Tom) Nolen of Festus, Linda (Alan) Boxdorfer of Perryville, and Karla (Mike) Prevallet of St. Mary, and Edward (Chelle) Daume, Jr. and Michael (Amy) Daume both of Perryville; a brother and a sister: Victor (Wilma) Graden of Grinell, Iowa and Esther Morie of Scott City and a brother-in-law: Jim Stone of Springfield; 15 grandchildren; Brian Miller, Angela McKnight, Scott Nolen, Jason Nolen, Jennifer Heibeck, Matthew Boxdorfer, Jeremy Boxdorfer, Joshua Boxdorfer, Nathan Adams, Nick Adams, Clay Prevallet, Clint Prevallet, Amanda Daume, Alexandra Daume, Michelle Daume and two step grandchildren: Cierra Sleyster and Jacob Sleyster; 27 great grandchildren and one step great grandson.
She was also preceded in death by seven sisters: Paula McCray, Ruby Doughty, Stella Blank, Edna Steimle, Helen Strack, Emma Walton and Marguerite Stone; a brother: Earl Graden; three nephews and a niece.
She was a homemaker and worked part-time at the Perryville newspaper in the circulation department.
In addition to all her church work, for many years Ruth was a volunteer at the Perry County Nursing Home where she spent her Friday mornings helping the residents make crafts.
When her children were younger, she also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader.
In her spare time, Ruth spent many hours working in her flower gardens, where she instilled a love of gardening to her children.
She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church , Perryville, Church Women United and the Director for 12 years of the Community Food Pantry of Perry County and a past member of Presbyterian Women.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 15 and 6:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday, January 16 at Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.
Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. Thursday, January 16 at the Faith Presbyterian Church.
A funeral for 84-year-old Ruth L. Daume of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Faith Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Bruce Owens will officiate.
Burial will be in the Home Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Faith Presbyterian Church.
