Davis, Eldon H.

Eldon H. Davis, 84, of Jackson died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Dutchtown, son of Harrison and Grace (Lape) Davis. He and Bernetta Lea (Roeder) Davis were married Dec. 17, 1974, in Cape Girardeau.

He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II from Dec. 5, 1942, to Jan. 8, 1946. He was a member of VFW Post 3838 and American Legion Post 63.

Davis was employed 18 years with Mobil Oil and later with R.B. Potashnick Construction Co. for many years. He retired as a self-employed carpenter.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Bernetta Lea Davis of Jackson; two sons, Rick (Valerie) Davis of Cape Girardeau and Jayson Davis of Jackson, Miss.; a daughter, Delana Treadwell of Ferriday, La.; a brother, Charlie Davis of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Gladys Davis of McClure, Ill., Hazel Gross of Gordonville, and Judy (Jim) Wunderlich of Jackson; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond Davis; and a sister, Dorothy Fuhrmann.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating.

Burial will be at Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Gordonville, with full military rites by the Missouri Honors Team.
