Delph, C. B. "Browning"

C. B. "Browning" Delph, 96, of Jackson passed away Saturday, May 20, 2006, at the home of his grandson, Mitchell, in Jackson.

He was born Sept. 6, 1909, in Oak Ridge, Mo., son of Emory and Elizabeth Davenport Delph. He and Marie Noce were married Nov. 7, 1940, in Hillsboro, Mo. She passed away Jan. 17, 2002.

Delph and Marie farmed many years near Oak Ridge. In 1951, the couple moved to Jackson. They were faithful members of First Baptist Church, and Browning worked 35 years with the city's street department. He was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman.

Loving survivors include his daughter, Mary Folk of Mehlville, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Michael, Jeffrey and Martin Folk, Laura Wanninger, Melanie Muich, Marsha Mueller, Mark King, Teresa and Mitchell Delph; and eight great-grandchildren. Browning was anticipating the arrival of his ninth great-grandchild soon.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nola King; and a son, Dayton Delph.

Friends may call Sunday, May 21, from 4 to 8 p.m., at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be Monday, May 22, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carter Frey officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Southeast Hospice.
